How to Wrap a Wine Bottle with Furoshiki Reusable Cloth Gift Wrap

Impress your friends and family by showing up to the next get together with a stylishly wrapped wine bottle. Whether by using our Shiki Wrap reversible wine-bottle fabric gift bags or by using our 28-inch Shiki Wrap, you can wrap a single wine bottle, two wine bottles, or any other beverages!

Wrapping typical gifts with Shiki Wrap is a breeze. But wrapping wine bottles requires a little more finesse. That’s why our favorite furoshiki expert, Megumi Esselstrom, is here to walk you through it.

Wrapping a Single Bottle

First, Megumi will show us how to wrap one wine bottle. Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy. And as she points out, it’s also fun!

In this video, Megumi Esselstrom demonstrates how to wrap a wine bottle using a 28 inch Shiki Wrap. Below, Megumi demonstrates how to wrap a bottle of wine in one wrap with a clever place for a card!

Step 1: Lay Out Your Fabric

Lay the Shiki Wrap flat in a diamond shape, so one corner points to you, one points up, and two point out on either side. Place your bottle in the center of the wrap.

Step 2: Double Knot Over the Top

Grab the leftside corner and the rightside corner and tie them together firmly over the top of your bottle. Make sure the knot hugs the bottle. We don’t want a lose wrap where the bottle could slip out.

Once you’re confident in that top knot, double knot it.

Step 3: Hug the Bottle

Next, turn the bottle so the free corners are on the left and right side of the bottle. This is the fun part!

Pick up both free corners. Bring the right corner toward you and wrap it around the bottle. Now, bring the left corner toward you and wrap it over the right corner. It’s like the fabric is wrapping the bottle up in a big bear hug.

Step 4: Tie the Final Knot

The free corners should meet each other on the other side of the bottle. Twist the bottle around and tie these corners together.

Wrapping Two Bottles

If you’re ready for the next level of furoshiki, Megumi shows us how to do a double-bottle wrap in the video below. This is sure to wow your friends and family and make you look like the Martha Stewart of the group.

Step 1: Lay Out Your Fabric and Bottles

As always, start with your Shiki Wrap laid flat in front of you in a diamond shape.

Place the bottles in the center. Next, tip the bottles on their side away from one another. So one bottle’s top points toward the right corner, and the other bottle’s top points toward the left corner. Leave a few inches between the bottles’ bottoms. Megumi recommends about a fist’s distance.

Step 2: Make a Triangle

Take the corner pointing toward you and lay it over the bottles, so the bottom corner now points in the same direction as the top corner. The corners don’t have to align, but they can if it works out that way.

Now, you should have a triangle that points away from you, with the two bottles at the bottom.

Step 3: Wrap it Up

Simply roll the bottles forward to wrap them up in the fabric. Once there is only an inch or two of the top corner showing, you can stop. Then, carefully lift up both bottles so they stand upright beside one another.

Step 4: The Final Knot

Both bottles will have a loose corner of the Shiki Wrap on top. Grab these corners firmly and tie them together. Make sure the tie is secure around the bottles, then double knot it.

If there is any loose fabric toward the bottom of the bottles, you can pull it through on the other side. This will create a tighter, more refined appearance.

(Optional) Step 5: Add a Card

There will be an envelope-like space on the backside where you can slip in a card if you’re giving this as a gift!

Wine or Water?

Wine is a popular gift, but not the only drink you can wrap this way. Wrap up fancy seltzer water, juices, sparkling cider, beer bottles, and other drinks. You can also use this technique to wrap gifts like high-end olive oils and vinegars, skincare products, and more.
